For #musicMonday, and in anticipation of some news about Peach hopefully making its way onto this website soon, I wanted to follow up the recent demo teaser by posting lyrics to a few of the songs from the soundtrack – peach, the end of time, and the avenue.

These are original songs written with Charles Baker (whose birthday it is today! Go wish him happy birthday!), songs written for the story which I’m really proud of in terms of the message they say and the contribution they make to the story. (And, they sound really great!)

I hope to share one of the demos with you before too long, but in the mean time, I thought that sharing some of the lyrics may be interesting!
peach

looking out over sunset
is this the start or the end
you have all the words that you need to use when it’s time to pretend

lost in the summer of my life
already caught on the slide
i know what you say when you own it and you know what it means to be blind

you say every day is a landslide
but that’s not what you told me last night
i still don’t know the difference between your truth and your lies

it’s a war and you know that you’re losing
it’s more than the mercy you’re used to
is the end, or the start, or the start of the end

see me
see my eyes
look through me
like you used to
one more time

lost in the summer of my life
you say every day is a landslide
it’s a war and you know that you’re losing this time
the end of time

your cold eyes are burning through me
it’s slow enough to breathe
long enough to let it be

and the city that we knew
cries itself to sleep for the memories

so go, call on what you know
call on what you feel to be true
a second set of eyes will see this differently
you say “i’m sorry that i stayed for you”

oh, this is the end of time
and since the end of time
i’ve been fine

so go, call on what you know
call on what you feel to be true
a second set of eyes will see this differently
you say “i’m sorry that i stayed for you”

oh, this is the end of time
and since the end of time
i’ve been fine
i’ve been fine
the avenue

the two of us are staring at the shore
sharing things we never said before
and here i am, the soul that no-one sees
the voice that no-one hears
the person i can’t be
i’m a long long way from home
i’m a long long way from home

you say my name and i go out of style
on the avenue you always change your mind
where am i
here i am, the soul that no-one sees
the voice that no-one hears
the love that i can’t be
i can’t find my feet, but i will not let it beat me
i’m a long long way from home
i’m a long long way from home
i’m a long long way from home
